You could hear a pin drop as the 300 guests at the 19th Annual Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation Gala heard the stories of three local people who experienced a sudden heart problem. So moved were the attendees that $20,000 was raised to purchase an electrocardiogram machine (ECG) for Ridge Meadows Hospital.
Total raised for the evening held on Saturday, October 13 at Meadow Gardens Golf Course was over $191,000. Funds were used to purchase essential healthcare equipment at Ridge Meadows Hospital.
At the Gala, Les Jourdain, President and CEO of Fraser River Pile and Dredge Ltd., presenting sponsor of the hospital Gala, and his wife, Marilyn, said of the support by their company, “The well being of the people who live and work in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows is an investment we are proud to make. We encourage all in attendance this evening to support Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation. The hospital cares for all individuals in our communities and is worthy of your investment.”
Tony Knowles, Chair of Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation, said in thanking the committee, “On behalf of the RMHF Board and in particular those future patients who will benefit from your marvelous efforts, I want to congratulate you on putting on what I think was the most successful Gala to date. From the comments I received on Saturday evening it was a great hit all the way around... the venue, the food, the auction items and the overall atmosphere. It has been a lot of dedicated and hard work for many people and those hundreds of hours are well worth it. Thank you for your continued support of our hospital."
