Capital Campaign Cabinet – Why they are with us…

Ric Moore

“Since moving here 28 years ago, the population of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows has increased significantly. However, our hospital has not grown in step with the number of people it serves. Ridge Meadows Hospital cannot accommodate immense growth without this expansion.”

Tom Meier

"Why now? It will never be less expensive than today. If it costs $10 million to build it today, it will cost $14 million five years from now. And that does not begin to count the human cost of inaction."

"I have lived in Maple Ridge 47 years, both daughters were born in Ridge Meadows Hospital and I am currently retired from a career in real estate, development, construction and sales. I believe the hospital is the most important structure in our town and I have always supported it. The new expansion will be a great step in moving Maple Ridge forward."

"I am proud to be a part of this Campaign for our hospital. Our family has been in Maple Ridge for over 75 years and we love our community. We are building for our future and for the future of our children and grandchildren. We feel strongly that we must give back."

"The new facility will enable us to province a higher level of service to you. We have a strong and excellent staff and we are all excited about raising the bar. First and foremost, we will reduce the extensive wait time for non-critical patients."

Bart Findlay

"As a professional and citizen of Maple Ridge for over 10 years, I feel it is crucial to the future of my family and to future generations that we act now to bring Ridge Meadows Hospital into the 21st century and ensure fast and efficient healthcare to all citizens."

Barb Keith

"I have lived in this community some 12 years, and have on many occasions required the services of Ridge Meadows Hospital. On two of those admissions I required major surgery for a deadly disease. I was never treated as a number, but as a member of a large family and given the care and support commensurate with that perception. I owe a debit of gratitude to the men and women who provide our health care at this institution. The least we can do is help provide them with the tools to carry it out."

“A community that works together is a healthy community. This is our hospital and we need to take pride in the services it offers. With everyone’s support we can ensure our families have access to the best possible healthcare, healthcare that is ample for today and for the future.”

Bob Thompson

“In a growing community like ours, the expansion of the emergency and ambulatory care will ensure we are able to adequately respond to the increasing needs of our citizens.”

Dr. Frank Ervin

My participation in this campaign is a reflection of my strong belief in the future of our community hospital. Our citizens, young and old, deserve the best health care facilities we can provide. This ambitious project, with the help of all of us, will deliver the high quality emergency and ambulatory care facility we need now while allowing for growth for the future. I urge you to join my physician colleagues and build for the future, for the sake of your health and your hospital!

"I have lived in Maple Ridge since 1985 and both my children were born at RMH. Our hospital is a cornerstone in our community. The baby-boom generation is on the cusp of retirement and demographics show that demands on our medical system will increase dramatically in the years to come. RMH was built to service a community that was much smaller than it is today - clearly RMH is showing its age and in need of significant upgrading. While it would be nice to sit back and wait for government to address the need, those days appear to be behind us and, as a community, we need to get behind the RMH Capital Campaign to get the job done in a timely fashion."

"It is indeed a pleasure to be involved in the Capital Campaign, for an emergency that will meet the needs of the communities of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows. Having worked in the department for a number of years, I can attest to the fact that these upgrades are needed -- not wanted -- needed! This expansion affects us all, if not in the past or present, then in the future. There are no guarantees -- illness and injury do not play favourites. I would like to know I did my best to make sure all is in readiness for that eventuality; not just for me and my loved ones, but for the whole Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows community."

Sharon Jones

Sharon Jones, RN
As I have been a 30+ year RN of RMH and a lifetime resident of Pitt Meadows, it gives me a great deal of satisfaction to know I am contributing and supporting the development of our new emergency/ambulatory care department of RMH. Many changes have occurred over the past 3 decades and I know this will be the most significant development in my lifetime.
